According to IDC data, in Q2th of 2022, the Malaysia printer market rose 7.8% year-on-year and a month-on-month growth of 11.9%.
In this quarter, the inkjet segment increased a lot, the growth was 25.2%. In the second quarter of 2022, the top three brands in the Malaysian printer market are Canon, HP, and Epson.
Canon achieved year-on-year growth of 19.0% in the Q2th, taking the lead with a market share of 42.8%. HP’s market share was 34.0%, down 10.7% year-on-year, but up 30.8% month-on-month. Among them, HP’s inkjet equipment shipments increased by 47.0% from the previous quarter. Due to good office demand and recovery of supply conditions, HP copiers increased significantly by 49.6% quarter-on-quarter.
Epson had a 14.5% market share in the quarter. The brand recorded a year-on-year decline of 54.0% and a month-on-month decline of 14.0% due to the shortage of mainstream inkjet models. However, it achieved a quarter-on-quarter growth of 181.3% in the Q2th due to the recovery of dot matrix printer inventories.
The strong performances of Canon and HP in the laser copier segment signaled that local demand remained strong, although the corporate downsizing and lower print demands.
